Fall is a season filled with traditions, holidays, and celebrations. The Bible describes God as holy, pure, good, righteous, just, merciful, trustworthy, faithful – a God of grace and love. As we learn more about God, we also learn more about ourselves, because as God’s sons and daughters we include, and are spiritually created to reflect, the qualities that have their source in Him.

This year has been filled with an opportunity.  In the midst of a pandemic, we have had the opportunity to grow in being stewards by being more honest, pure, selfless, loving (unconditionally) in our relationship with God first and foremost.  God grabs our attention, even when our first instinct is to rely on self.  As we grow our God consciousness during this year’s stewardship movement we can engage in activities throughout the upcoming year that reflect our values as a church, within our various communities.  As we prepare to commit our monetary gifts, let us also bring forth in proportion, our gifts, talents and values.  If social equality is of interest to you, Hands On NC is an opportunity to get involved in your local community efforts.  More information can be obtained https://www.handsonnwnc.org/

Giving thanks to God is more than just words and warm feelings.  Our celebration of what God has done for us and the thanks that we give to him is giving a portion of what God has given to us to the work of His kingdom.  On Sunday, November 22, we will be having a time of celebration and thanksgiving of what God has done. During worship, you will have an opportunity to worship by presenting God with your pledge for the coming year.

We also have a new 1st Time Tithe Challenge – Money Back Guarantee…want to go after that 10% with a security blanket?  We got ya covered and understand that extenuating circumstances can arise…we have to look no further than this year’s pandemic as evidence.

Commitment cards (with the Ladder — no Pastor E on it…lol) are being mailed out and will be available on the website as well to submit electronically.  They are also available in the Narthex for your convenience if you choose to turn in during worship services on the 22nd. We want everyone to have an opportunity to make their commitment because we believe that when we make a commitment to God with our finances, it is a sign of our faith and trust in God.  It shows that we believe He provides for us and honors Him. We are even providing pledge cards for children so that they can participate in the event too!

During the coming weeks, take time to pray about the blessings that God has given to you and decide on commitment that you or your family will make.  2 Corinthians 9:7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Once you have made that decision, you can fulfill the commitment in a variety of ways.  You can give weekly, monthly, or annually through Sunday attendance or online.  We hope to make it simple for you to take a step forward in your faith. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.  We hope that you will join in the celebration as we offer our Thanksgiving to God!

As you consider the blessings that God is given to you and what He is leading you to commit to him, may these words from Psalm 37 be a blessing to you:

Psalm 37:3-6

Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this:

He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
