Small Talk

August 2 – September 6
Sometimes as Christians, we can feel intimidated to talk about our faith. What if I get it wrong? What if I say the wrong thing? Those voices of fear can hold us back from experiencing the joy that God has in store for us. Not every conversation about God has to be complicated. Ever since the Reformation, one of the goals of the Lutheran church was to help everyday people understand and talk about our faith. Martin Luther wrote a book that broke down 6 things that he thought every Christian should know. During this series, we are going to take a look at 6 parts of the Small Catechism.

Mastermind Series

Too often, we can feel like our thoughts are running out of control. Right now, people are worried about the impact of the pandemic, worried about racial tensions, and worried that nothing seems like it is under control. During this 4 part series, we will see that all things are under God’s control. God has given us his Word so that we can break down every stronghold and take control of our thoughts. Our thoughts are more than a reaction to what’s happening in our lives- they are a powerful force shaping who we are and who we can become.
Change your thinking. Change your life.

God in the Darkness Series

In the middle of a global pandemic, we are surrounded by Darkness.  The physical and financial restrictions are constant reminders of the tragedy our world is going through.  The evidence of Darkness is easy to identify, but it can be difficult to see God through the cloud of brokenness, pain, and death.  Even in the darkest night, God is still working.  He has promised never to leave us or forsake us.  If we want to see what God is doing, we have to know what we are looking for.  Galatians 5:22-23 tells us what the evidence of God’s work is.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. What if instead of focusing on what is wrong, we started to look for these instead? And what if instead of just looking for Good News, WE were the good news for other people to see?

Responding to COVID19

How should God’s people respond to the Coronavirus?  Our attention during the pandemic can often be focused on our limitations and restrictions.  We there are so many things that we have been told NOT to do.  Do not shake hands.  Do not come within 6 feet of another person.  Do not go to work unless you are essential. Do not gather together for worship.  All of these NOTS leave a void that can easily be filled with fear or worry.  Today, we will take a look at some verses in scripture that tell us what Not to do and what God wants to put in its place.  One of the scariest things about the Coronavirus is how fast it has spread.  People can be carriers and never even know it.  There is something else that has spread just as quickly along with the disease – FEAR.  Social distancing hasn’t slowed down its spread.  We are all carriers of something.  What we carry has the power to impact the people around us.  The question is, is what you are carrying worth catching?
