March 19, 2020 Update

One week ago, life changed in North Carolina as restrictive measures were put in place to limit the spread of the COVID-19.  In the wake of these new challenges and hardships, as God’s people we are called to rise up and bring comfort and healing to the hurting.  We have had to learn to do this in new ways. Things that we used to do to show love for each other have become the very thing that we are now asked to avoid: spending time together, giving a hug, or even gathering together for worship in God’s house.

One of the adjustments that we have made is doing online worship.  Staff and worship teams have been putting in a ton of extra effort in learning how to do this well.  We have also created an option for private communion. (sign up here).  Many of you have expressed your appreciation for these.  Thank you for your encouragement. It means a lot to know that what we are doing has been a blessing for you.

Today, we are launching a new ministry to meet the changing needs of our community.   The elderly and immunocompromised are strongly encouraged to limit contact as much as possible.  It may be difficult or unsafe for them to shop for necessities and food. In order to meet the needs of those who are most at risk, we are looking for volunteers who would be willing to help others in placing an online grocery order and delivering it to their home.  (Read more here)

We are asked to be socially distant, but we are still united together as a community of faith and the Body of Christ.  He is present with us, no matter where we go!

Psalm 121 a song of ascents

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—

    where does my help come from?

My help comes from the Lord,

    the Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip—

    he who watches over you will not slumber;

indeed, he who watches over Israel

    will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you—

    the Lord is your shade at your right hand;

the sun will not harm you by day,

    nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm—

    he will watch over your life;

the Lord will watch over your coming and going

    both now and forevermore.
