LW – February 21, 2017

Lynn Barker has been volunteering at the Samaritan Medical Clinics Rescue Mission Clinic weekly since August 2016. The Samaritan Medical Clinics provide medical care to individuals that do not have insurance and cannot afford medical care.  She works with Dr Hinson on Monday mornings.  Since August, she has quickly realized that these individuals (predominately men) have needs beyond healthcare.  As she gets to know them she finds out someone may need a new coat, socks, shoes, or belt.  After she leaves the clinic she reaches out to her friends for any extras they may have, but that doesn’t mean its not special, she asks that the items are nice, no rips, stains, things that “You would want to wear”.  The men are so appreciative, that the clinic has offered her a closet to store high demand items, like shoes, book bags, deodorant, umbrellas, etc.  Lynn feels like she receives more than she gives to these men.  Some of which are participants in a 90 substance abuse program, once they graduate they move to the Life Center (like a halfway house) before moving out on their own.

“This is what life is about… helping those who are less fortunate and bringing them to the Word.” – Lynn Barker

When we learned what Lynn was doing, we were quick to offer to assist her in this program.  Fountain of Life will be an additional resource for Lynn to reach out to for needs for these gentlemen.  We will post a list weekly with specific items needed, if you have anything drop it off at the church under the information table in the fellowship hall by Sunday morning so Lynn can deliver the items on Monday.

Follow us on Facebook for the weekly updates, or check your e-newsletter on Thursdays!  We are excited to work together to bless these individuals with God’s love and generosity!

It was really great talking to Lynn about her ministry! She has a love and excitement for the work the Lord has guided her to do. What a great opportunity for us to partner with her and help those who are less fortunate.

I have known Lynn since she snd my daughter became friends when they were 15. I am so proud of the work she is doing in service for the Word. I will be supporting her in her service to our Father in deed and prayer for all who work in this worthy endeavor. God richly bless all of you.
